Troubleshooting the RN Dining Application on the BlackBerry® Smartphone
This page includes troubleshooting help for common issues associated with downloading the RN Dining Beta application on the BlackBerry smartphone.
1. How to Install the RN Dining application
- Go to http://labs.rewardsnetwork.com/blackberry/
- Choose the correct download for your device type
- Confirm the download prompts
- If asked to Reboot, click “Yes”
2. How to Uninstall the RN Dining application
- Go to Settings –> Options –> Advanced Options –> Applications
- Scroll down to “RN Dining”
- Click the “Menu” button and choose “Delete”
- Confirm the deletion
- Reboot your BlackBerry smartphone
3. How to Reboot your BlackBerry Smartphone
- Go to the main screen of your BlackBerry smartphone
- Scroll down and click “Turn Power Off” button
- Remove the battery, wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the battery
- Turn the power back on
4. Message: “Would you like to grant RN Dining Trusted Application Status?”
The message referenced above (regarding Trusted Application Status) may appear on your device. In order to receive restaurant, bar and club search results, you will need to click “Yes” on your device. This question is typically only asked when you download the application. By pushing “Yes” the application download will be completed on your device.
5. ERROR Message: “Tunnel Failed”
This is caused by not having full internet access configured on your device. Below are the settings required for the different major carriers:
- Go to Settings –> Options –> Advanced Options –> TCP
- Make sure you have the settings indicated below. (Note: Info provided is case sensitive)
- Reboot (full power shutoff, remove battery, then reinsert battery)
Cingular/AT&T
Rogers
T-Mobile
6. If you are getting permissions denied
- Go to Settings –> Options –> Advanced Options –> Applications
- Scroll down to “RN Dining”
- Click the “Menu” button and choose “Edit Default Permissions”
- Change all the permissions to “Allow” by clicking on each of the default permissions and scrolling to “Allow”
- Exit and save when prompted, then try your application again
7. After installation, your device froze after trying to launch RN Dining application
- Reboot your device. See Step 3.
- Make sure RN Dining has proper permissions to run. See Step 6.
- In some cases, it may be necessary to reinstall the application. Please perform Step 2 and then Step 1 to reinstall
8. Error Message Received “Bad DNS Address”
- Exit the RN Dining Application
- Uninstall application
- Reinstall application
